Should I choose a 5GB/day plan or an Unlimited plan?
Pick a 5GB/day Tourist SIM if you mostly use maps, ride-hailing, messaging and light browsing — it’s the cheapest way to stay online. Choose an Unlimited plan if you stream video, make lots of video calls, work remotely, or share your connection as a hotspot.
Do I need my passport to buy a SIM or eSIM in Vietnam?
Yes. Every SIM/eSIM must be registered to your passport by law. Just send Ocean Treasure Travel a photo of your passport and we complete the registration before you arrive — you skip the paperwork entirely.
Which network has the best coverage — Viettel, Vinaphone or MobiFone?
Viettel has the widest nationwide coverage, including remote mountains and islands, which is why our unlimited Viettel plans are popular for road trips. Vinaphone and MobiFone perform very well in cities and coastal resort areas.
Is “Unlimited (120GB / 180GB / 300GB high speed)” really unlimited?
Data never stops. You get top 5G speed up to the listed high-speed allowance; after that, browsing continues at a reduced speed under the operator’s fair-use policy. For most travelers the high-speed cap is far more than a trip needs.
What are “free same-network calls” and “local minutes”?
Calls to phones on the same operator are free and unlimited. The listed minutes (50 / 100 / 200) are free calls to any Vietnamese number — handy for reaching drivers, hotels, clinics and restaurants. Data-only plans don’t include calling.
Can I use the SIM as a hotspot for my laptop or tablet?
Yes — unlimited plans are ideal for tethering. If several devices will share the connection or you’ll stream in 4K, let us know and we’ll recommend the plan with the largest high-speed allowance.
Can I keep my home number for banking OTP while using Vietnam data?
Yes. Keep your home SIM in the second slot (or as an inactive eSIM line) to receive SMS OTP, and use the Vietnam plan for data. We’ll set the correct default line for you during setup.

How to activate your SIM / eSIM
Five minutes, start to finish.
- Confirm your phone & trip length. Check that your phone is unlocked; for eSIM, verify eSIM support (iPhone XS+, Samsung S20+, Pixel 3+ and newer).
- Choose physical SIM or eSIM — order before landing so everything is ready on arrival.
- eSIM: scan the QR code on stable Wi-Fi. Keep your home SIM active in the second slot so banking OTP still arrives.
- Restart the phone and enable mobile data (and data roaming if prompted).
- Test before leaving the airport: Google Maps, Grab, WhatsApp, KakaoTalk, LINE or WeChat. Our team can check it with you.

Can I use Google Maps, Grab, WhatsApp and translation apps?
Yes — that’s exactly what these packages are sized for. If you do lots of video calls, social uploads or hotspot sharing, pick a higher-data option.
Should I choose eSIM or a physical SIM?
Choose eSIM if your phone supports it and you want paperless setup before landing. Choose a physical SIM if your phone is locked, doesn’t support eSIM, or you prefer direct installation at the airport or hotel.
Do I need local calls?
Chat apps only? Data-only is enough. Need to call drivers, hotels, hospitals or restaurants? Choose a Mobi Local package with calls included.
